The viewer’s glossary: BO3, BO5, and BO7
New to MPL? Learn the series formats frequently mentioned during broadcasts.
BO stands for best of. In a BO3, a team needs two game wins to take the series. A BO5 requires three wins, while a BO7 requires four.
Series formats depend on the tournament stage and competition rules. Do not assume every match uses the same number of games.
Check the organizer’s rules and announcements for the format of the season you are following.
